Vhi add benefit to One Plan Complete 1st of July 2013

Vhi Healthcare will add a benefit on One Plan Complete on 1 July 2013.  A benefit of €20 per year will be added for non-emergency dental visits. An outpatient excess of €250 per year applies to this plan.

This benefit will apply to all new and renewing customers from 1 July 2013

Aviva release 8 new plans in a bid to address the increasing strain on affordability.  The plans could also be seen as an innovative move by Aviva Health to circumvent the government’s proposed plans to charge insurers and patients inflated rates in Public Hospitals.

New Risk Equalisation Scheme takes effect today. Here are the changes.

Purpose of Risk Equalisation

  • Risk Equalisation (RE) is a process that aims to equitably neutralise differences in insurers’ costs that arise due to variations in the age profile of the insurers
  • Involves transfer payments between health insurers to spread some of the claims cost of the high-risk older and less healthy members amongst all the private health insurers in the market in proportion to their market share
  • In the absence of an effective risk equalisation system, there is a threat to the existence of a community rated market when significant differences in risk profiles exist between competing insurers. read more…

Laya Healthcare will change the premiums and benefits of plans from 1 April 2013.

Premiums will increase by 7-15% on most plans. Essential Plus with Excess and Essential Plus No Excess will decrease by 17% on adult premiums.

  • The  Mater Private Cork will be added to all Laya healthcare plans except StudentCare
  • Dean Clinics out-patient Mental Health Consultations will be added to all plans except StudentCare

The following rules changes will be applied:

  • Laya Healthcare will not cover long term care related to rehabilitation or convalescence.
  • Laya healthcare will not cover claims relating to giving birth after 34 weeks (was 28 weeks) when on temporary stays abroad.

These prices and benefit changes will apply to all new and renewing customers from this date

GloHealth benefit change to Ultimate Plan

GloHealth will remove the €200 excess per night on private room accommodation in the the Blackrock Clinic, the Mater Private and the Beacon Clinic on their Ultimate Plan on the 31st March. 

This benefit change will apply to all new and renewing customers from this date.

Aviva Health Insurance announce premium increases of 4% average

Aviva Health Insurance announced today that it is increasing its premiums by an average of 4% (0% to 6.4%1) on a range of plans effective from 31st March 2013. There is to be no premium increase on many of its plans.
